Medical Director of Liver Transplantation

Transplant Leadership Institute has been engaged by The Methodist Transplant Institute, in partnership with The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) in Memphis, Tennessee to identify and recruit a Medical Director of Liver Transplantation. The selected leader will have a proven track record of supporting excellent patient outcomes, fostering program growth, and ensuring compliance with UNOS and OPTN rules and bylaws. The director will have experience in the care of patients with advanced liver disease across all stages, including evaluation of pre-transplant candidates, donor selection, proper maintenance of the waitlist, and long-term post-transplant management of liver transplant recipients. In addition, the director will actively participate in quality and selection committees, collaborate with surgical colleagues and multidisciplinary team members, and build strong relationships with both community and internal partners.

Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare operates one of the largest and most established liver transplant programs in the U.S., with both adult and pediatric services. The program has performed over 2,000 liver transplants since 1982, and offers living donor options, and is the only pediatric liver transplant program in the Mid-South.

Required Qualifications:

  •      MD, DO, or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
  •      Board certification/Board eligible in Transplant Hepatology or Gastroenterology.
  •      Completion of an accredited Transplant Hepatology fellowship.
  •      Five years of post-fellowship experience preferred.
