Our Services
Retained executive search, physician recruitment, interim placement, and strategic advisory — built exclusively for the transplant and organ procurement community.
Disciplines Across the Transplant Ecosystem
Select a discipline to explore the mandate. Every search is led with an understanding of transplant operations, clinical leadership, quality, regulatory requirements, program growth, and physician alignment.
Retained searches for the leaders who run transplant programs — executive directors, VPs, administrators, and service line leaders. We manage the full mandate from role design through offer, with confidentiality and discretion built in.
Why Transplant Leaders Choose TLI
We have honed our search skills leading dozens of assignments — working with boards, chief executive officers, and search committees to attract talented leaders and clinical staff. Our clients receive an exceptionally high level of service at every step.
Led by Experience
Every client and candidate interaction is conducted by our experienced staff — never delegated to junior researchers. You work directly with the people leading your search.

We devote substantial time to each candidate, building genuine relationships rather than processing transactions. Both clients and candidates receive our full, focused attention.
Independent Search Practice
As an independent practice, we are free of mega-firm conflicts and entirely focused on the transplant and OPO community we know intimately.

Strong working relationships built through regular communication — email, telephone, and in-person — that continue well beyond placement.
Board & C-Suite Experience
Dozens of assignments with boards, chief executive officers, and search committees have honed our ability to navigate complex governance and stakeholder dynamics.
Steps in Candidate Search and Placement
A disciplined, relationship-driven methodology refined over dozens of executive and clinical searches — from discovery through delivery.
At the outset of each search, we talk with human resources and senior leaders of the hiring organization, members of the Search Committee, and other "stakeholders," in order to develop a full picture of the client's background, mission, and future goals. This initial phase provides us an opportunity to understand broad organizational goals and the goals for the candidate, ensuring all parties share the same understanding of the position. We also seek to understand the client's culture — the beliefs ("what is held to be true"), the values ("what is important"), and the behaviors ("how leaders act when no one is looking") — and the alignment, or lack of it, between an organization's culture and its stated mission and goals.
We work our extensive networks to identify candidates whose prior experience and leadership ability qualify them for serious consideration. Our network is considerable, built over many years in this niche field. Every TLI search is a national search — we solicit nominations from hundreds of leaders in the US transplant community, cull our database of thousands of contacts, and place targeted advertisements. Many candidates are not actively seeking a new position; we engage their interest through a series of conversations, exploring personal and career benefits alongside the challenges of change. Some candidates require significant "courting." Our objective is to present the client with highly-motivated candidates of experience who can serve the organization for many years.
Personal interviews are scheduled for a select number of candidates. We develop information on leadership ability, experience building collaborations at the most senior levels, proven goal achievement, and personal compatibility with current staff and leaders. Our assessments are informed by a keen understanding of the leadership ability, administrative skill, clinical skill, and temperament that constitute strong leadership potential. Great emphasis is placed on the candidate's knowledge and experience in leading a contemporary organ transplant or procurement enterprise. An external contractor conducts thorough reference checks on all candidates — reviewing past performance, style, and behavior.
For most searches, we recommend introductory telephone or webcam meetings between candidates and the Client, followed by more extensive visits to the organization and local community if mutual interest emerges. This allows the client to evaluate a candidate's appeal and fit over several meetings, while candidates thoughtfully assess the opportunity. We assist the Committee in arranging every visit.
We would plan to provide candidates for client review within 30–60 days of the agreement's signing. This timeline reflects the depth of our process — from discovery through screening — and ensures every presented candidate has been thoroughly vetted and genuinely engaged.
