Thoracic Recovery Surgeon
Transplant Leadership Institute LLC has been retained by XVIVO Services, Inc. to identify and recruit a Thoracic Recovery Surgeon. This position will provide thoracic surgical expertise, medical and surgical oversight and direction, functional leadership, and accountability for the surgical procurement and medical management of donors for heart and lung transplant programs. Overall, the surgeon is responsible for safe, effective, and equitable recovery of donor heart and lung grafts for their client transplant centers. This encompasses liaison activities between the Administration, the Surgical Staff, the Medical Staff, performance measurement, and quality improvement activities. There are full-time, part-time and per diem positions available.
Qualified candidates should be ACIN certified, preferably for both cardiac and lung recoveries.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Holds a valid, unrestricted, license to practice medicine in the United States.
- Has at least 3-5 years of experience in thoracic surgery, including thoracic organ recovery.
- Maintains current knowledge in the care of thoracic transplant patients by obtaining a minimum of 12 CMEs in thoracic transplantation and thoracic surgery every three years or additional training of 1-year formalized training in thoracic transplantation and a minimum of 2 years documented experience with a transplant program that meets the qualification for UNOS membership. Experience in thoracic recoveries utilizing normothermic regional perfusion (NRP) is a plus.
- Performance of at least 25 thoracic organ recoveries
