Transplant Leadership Institute LLC has been retained by Tulane Transplant Institute in New Orleans, Louisiana to identify and recruit a Medical Director of Kidney Transplant for its rapidly growing kidney transplant program. The successful candidate will serve as the senior physician leader for the program, providing medical oversight of clinical services across the inpatient and outpatient continuum, from referral and evaluation through long-term post-transplant care. Founded in 1834, Tulane University School of Medicine is the second-oldest medical school in the Deep South. Tulane performed the nation's first living donor kidney transplant in 1959. Today, the Tulane Transplant Institute operates at East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie, the clinical home of the Tulane-LCMC Health partnership. The Institute offers kidney, liver, pancreas, heart, and lung transplantation. Its kidney program grew from 109 transplants in 2024 to 155 in 2025, representing approximately 42% growth. East Jefferson is ranked #3 in Louisiana by U.S. News & World Report. The next Medical Director will lead program growth, organ utilization, quality and regulatory performance, and the development of a transplant nephrology fellowship.
