The Division of GI/Hepatology at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona is seeking a preeminent Hepatologist to lead their Liver Research Institute.  The candidate must have significant experience in Hepatology and liver disease research. Board certification in Gastroenterology beneficial but not required.  Qualified candidates will receive a faculty appointment to the University of Arizona consistent with their credentials.

The Liver Research Institute at the University of Arizona provides state-of-the-art treatments for patients with all forms of liver disease and is funded by the State of Arizona. By participating in clinical trials of new therapies, the Institute is able to provide many patients with early access to potentially life-saving treatments before they are available to the general public. Clinical trials are performed in collaboration with the pharmaceutical/device industry as well as the National Institutes of Health.

Areas of research at the Institute include:

  • Treatment of viral hepatitis B and C
  • Treatment of complications of cirrhosis
  • Hepatorenal syndrome
  • Hepatic encephalopathy
  • Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis
  • Treatment outcomes
