Thoracic Recovery Surgeon

Transplant Leadership Institute LLC has been retained by STAR Teams to identify and recruit a Thoracic Recovery Surgeon. This position will provide thoracic surgical expertise, medical and surgical oversight and direction, functional leadership, and accountability for the surgical procurement and medical management of donors for heart and lung transplant programs. Overall, the surgeon is responsible for safe, effective, and equitable recovery of donor heart and lung grafts for their client transplant centers. This encompasses liaison activities between the Administration, the Surgical Staff, the Medical Staff, performance measurement, and quality improvement activities.

Qualified candidates should be ACIN certified, preferably for both cardiac and lung transplantation. Ideal candidates will be proficient in all aspects of cardiac/lung transplantation and bring value and shared vision to growth, research, teaching, and clinical initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Holds a valid, unrestricted, license to practice medicine in the United States.
2. Has at least 5 years of experience in Thoracic Transplant Surgery.
3. Experience with pre-operative and post-operative patient care responsibility for transplant
patients in a UNOS approved transplant program OR cumulative experience of at least 20
thoracic transplants over more than two years.
4. Performance of 25 organ recoveries

STAR Teams, Inc. is an established and rapidly growing thoracic transplant recovery practice and a part of the XVIVO Group. STAR Teams currently serves 15 prominent thoracic transplant centers with organ recovery services and in 2023, STAR Teams are projected to perform more than 600 organ recoveries.
