Transplant Administrator

VCU Health System is seeking a full time Transplant Service Line Administrator. The position will provide strategic, administrative and operational leadership to the Hume-Lee Abdominal Transplant Center and the Transplant program of the Pauley Heart Center. The Transplant Center has oversight of all solid-organ transplantation efforts and currently includes programs in heart, liver, kidney, pancreas, and islet cell transplantation. Additional programs in vascularized-composite allografts, lung transplantation, and pediatric transplantation are in various stages of development.  Under the direction of the COO and Transplant Center Director (joint report), this position is responsible for all solid-organ transplant-related activities, including but not limited to, advising and developing strategic planning and implementation; programmatic development and service expansion; operational efficiency; regulatory compliance; financial and budgetary operations; relationship development with internal and external entities; management and supervision of assigned team members; and facility and space planning initiatives. 

Responsibilities

Responsible for the management and development of all non-clinical functions in the Transplant Center and supporting laboratories for the multi-organ program. Is expected to work closely and collaboratively with the clinical leadership of the transplant teams (Nursing Director) and physician leadership (Transplant Center Director). This position integrates the operating goals and objectives of the multi-organ Transplant Center (Heart, Liver, Kidney, Pancreas, Islet Cell, as well as programs later added) to the patient care, teaching, research and community outreach mission of the Virginia Commonwealth University Health System.

Qualifications

Required

 Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration; Business Administration; Finance or closely related field from an accredited program

Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in leadership and management in an academic health care system, to include strategic planning, finance/budgeting, operations management, human resource management   and regulatory compliance.

Previous experience working and collaborating with Senior Management; medical leadership and other internal and external constituent/stakeholder groups

Prior leadership and management experience in a multi-organ Transplant Center is preferred.
